Monday, December 14th 2009 was a very freaky day for the family and my fiance. My sister had to send my baby girl, whos been with me for the past 19 years (yes, nineteen), to the UPM Veterinary clinic in PJ coz she wasn’t eating and didn’t look that well. Her breath was very stinky and so was her body. She was weak, her fur looked dull and she lost a drastic amount of weight.
After checking, the vet there told her to send Raisa to the UPM Vet in Serdang (the one on the UPM Campus itself). Her kidneys are “inefficient”. Seems the cause is due to her age. Shes old. Very old for a cat. And its understandable. But bloody hell it freaked me out. Especially when we were told that putting her down is an option we need to consider. The kidneys part is the cause of everything. Sigh…but the body stinking is coz her bowels are kinda full of shit…shes constipated and dehydrated.
So now shes been hospitalized in Serdang. And will be til most likely next Monday.
My sister went to visit her yesterday and told me that she was looking very traumatized and scared. She didn’t really go to my sister instead sat at the back of her cage. Even when my sister was patting her and stroking her back, she just sat there, barely moving. My sister told me that I should go and visit her. She would be much happier to see my face rather than anybody else’s.
I have been very uneasy the past few days ever since we found out about Raisa. Up to a point of breaking down. And I desperately wanted to see her but couldn’t due to my workload and also a very important client came to the office.
But today, the client is gone, workload although still a huge pile on the table, has eased up. And I took the opportunity to go to UPM with my sister to have a look at my baby girl. The moment she saw me she gave a meow, and came right to the cage door. I opened the cage and started patting and stroking her and it was so good to hear her lovely purrs again. I put my head in and she started putting her head to mine. She knew me and she missed me. My sister was right. You could tell that she was so happy to see me. She just purred and started doing all her adorable things as best as she could.
I started getting all teary. Heh.
She looks so much better today compared to the day she went in. Even when compared to yesterday, my sis said she looked better today. Her fur wasn’t dull anymore, she had more weight in and her body didn’t stink like it initially did when we sent her to the vet.
She currently is drinking a lot of water, has to be force fed and is on drips. She also has to go for daily dialysis, for now. You can see the pic below that her leg is bandaged. This is for the drip thingy. You can also see that the bandage is practically coming off…. Typical of my baby girl. She hates having anything on her other than me. Put a collar and no matte how tight, shell get it off. Hehehehe
Anyway, the dialysis is helping. Seeing how she looks better now. But theres still an uncertainty about her kidneys. Still have to wait and see. If it really isn’t working…shes gonna have to go for dialysis for the rest of her life for maybe once a week. Poor girl, shes gonna hate that so much.
Things are somewhat looking good even though she has to go for dialysis. From the looks of it, it doesn't terminal and is manageable so I am extremely grateful for that. Syukur Alhamdulillah. But we still have to wait for the final word from the vet. These are just my guesses and I aint no vet.
I am thankful to the vets and staff of UPM Veterinary for what they have done so far and will do for my baby girl.
I do hope that she gets better. Her kidneys to function again so that she wont have to go for the torturous dialysis….
God I miss her so much.
Her sexiest pose ever aint she gorgeous?
